OH SHIT BEARS!!!!!!!

This one below is a Grizzly which is right next to the Rising Sun Camp where we had our tent. The smell of Mikes sandals kept him/her away. Its better than Bear Spray.

Day in Glacier! Snow in July Oh My! (video)

We traveled by bus up to Logan's Pass which is where the Continental Divide is passes through. This road is a 2 lane roadway that was carved out in 1915 by our forefathers so that generations can enjoy the majesty of Glacier. Thanks goodness we wore underpants because it was cooooold...burrrrrrr.

Glacier National Park - East Ridge

Our Glacier Home

Alas, we reached one of our primary destinations of our trip...Glacier.  Imagine the most beautiful thing in the world that you've ever set your naked eyes on and then quadruple that experience. This place is truly amazing!  You look at it and your mind simply can not digest the magnificence of these glaciers let alone the wildlife that lives here.  We camped 2 days on the east ridge and are now on the west ridge for a couple of days.  We've decided to stay in the wild for awhile until we get our fill.

Charlie Russell Museum - Western Artist

We hit the Charlie Russell Historical Museum that was oddly located in a residential area in Great Falls, MT. He was known for his American and Native American Art which is truly amazing. He actually painted pictures of various scenes on his post mail to his friends. We have a new respect to the art of letter writing.

We thought this might come in handy for our pups when we get home.

Big Mike at the Museum of the Rockies

Didn't realize that there were 2 big Mike's but low and behold we found the other Mike which lives at in Montana at the Museum of the Rockies...he is the largest TRex in the world. Who knew that there were so many discovered dinosaurs in Montana!

Livingston, Montana July 3-4,

We made it to Livingston, Montana and this was our 2nd camp spot of our trip. There were a few highlights our our visit here which were the horse, art festival, cheeseburger, rodeo, fireworks and american spirit.
One sad thing was almost every tree had a picture of a service woman or service man who died in the middle east conflicts. They are fiercely protective of America and the ideals of freedom. It was refreshing to see since we both grew up in such a different place.

Chico Hot Springs

I guess we are obsessed about being clean and getting relaxed through the many hot springs available in the northwest.  Chico Hot Springs, Montana hosts many stars of hollywood like Dennis Quaid who is a local resident in the area.  Mike and I had to wait for a room which wasn't guaranteed but I earned my karma by saving a stray dog 25 miles out while looking for a camping alternative if the hotel didn't work out.  The dog was adopted by a ranch man driving by...lucky for us as I would have brought here on the rest of our vacation and eventually home to join our family.

An Almost Car Crash in Yellowstone!

While taking a leisurely drive through Yellowstone, a buffalo happened across the road at the same time we were coming around the corner...I almost drove us into the ditch but Mike wielded the camera for a perfect shot of the harry beast.

1st Trip through Yellowstone!

Idaho Homeless are sure Ugly.

Mr Potato Head Comes Home!

Lava Hot Springs is well, Hot

Our 2nd tent camping experience in a very cool place that offers the most hottest lava hot springs in the country...110 degrees!  They are known for their therapeutic benefits which we felt especially after polishing off a bottle of red wine prior to sinking into the baths.  Best night of sleep we've had camping by a river, a train rolling by every 2 hours and the constant buzz of bugs we've ever seen!  Perfect!  PS:  I have a love hate relationship with the outhouse...Mike just laughs at me!

Vegetarians not Welcome

Maddock's Roadside Cafe (located in Utah) has been around since the 1800's were you actually can select the cow in which your meat would come to you on a plate!  I settled for Tomato Soup and salad while Mike enjoyed the Bison Burger...Best rolls and banana cream pie we've ever had!  In the end, Mike prefers my Grade A beef rather than the one on his lunch plate.

Heaven and Earth Meet

Conversion is Imminent

Welcome to Salt Lake City Utah

We visited the Mormon Temple after eating a huge breakfast at a place called Lamb's Cafe.  Very pristine place and all the mormon ladies wear body hosiery and long skirts with sensible shoes...much like Jesus I imagine.

California Skies are full of Smoke!

The smoke in the skies of the foothills is really bad from the fires everywhere!

DAVE MYERS!!!!!

Nyak Tepee fun. Got some gas and took a quick nap in this road side tepee.

It was great to stop in Truckee and see Dave Myers an old friend from college days. He is doing well living in Reno and working in Truckee.

1st Night Coloma Caifornia

1st night in Coloma, California on the banks of the American River. Bed extremely comfortable. Awaken by lots of critters though. Weird sound that could only be a baby Mountain lion looking for his mom. We left our food out (first mistake) and found a baby skunk at 4am rustling through our Soy Flax seed chips. I am sure he is regular now. :)
In the morning a deer and her new born fawn were walking on the hill. All in all an exciting first night.

Taking off on our USA Vacation!

We are packed and our credit cards are ready!!!! Mike and Carrie hit the open road to visit America.
